Serviced Apartment Review: Monarch House Kensington

Monarch House has been a part of the Check-in-London porfolio for over 10 years and has consistently delivered a high quality of service and living experience for all our clients through the last decade. 

It is a real hidden gem in the heart of Kensington in our opinion with its neatly tucked away entrance, generous air-conditioned 1,2 & 3 bedroom apartments, beautiful private gardens, attentive staff and desirable on-site facilities like a 24 hour reception and car parking. 

The apartments here are managed under the COMO hospitality brand and recently underwent a refurbishment. Our team went over for a tour to see the new upgrades and improvements and here are their photos.  

Once you are past the glass doors on High Street Kensington you immediately leave the hustle and bustle behind. 

There's a sense of calm and quiet as you walk through the corridor, past the fish fountain and landscaped entrance on to the reception of the Monarch House building. You forget you are in the heart of the city.

The large reception area has a friendly receptionist at the desk, a sitting area, large wall art, newspapers, luggage trolley, a fish task, umbrellas and a glass cabinet showcasing beauty products from COMO Shambala. 

There is a lift that takes you to all floors and a selection of one, two and three bedroom apartments at this building. 

The new interiors feature bright and bold artwork on the walls and colour accents throughout the furnishings with tones of mustard, salmon and grey colour palettes.

Indoor plants have also been brought in to add a touch of greenery and calm to the living spaces. 

New contemporary light fittings with colour-cordinated shades or brass lamps have also been added given a sophisticated look and feel. 

New furniture has been installed including quality work desks which will be handy for all who need to have a dedicated base to work from home. 

All the apartments are fully air-conditioned with some rooms having individual controls.

All the bedrooms have king size beds ( UK 150 x 200cm) or twin beds (in 2nd or 3rd bedroom), fitted wardrobes, bed side tables, a telephone, a mirror, lamps and a TV. 

Some bedrooms also have an en-suite bathroom. 

Some have access to a small balcony.

The wardrobes have plenty of storage space, ideal for long or short stays. 

They also have a safe and hair dryer. 

The kitchens at Monarch House have been designed for you to enjoy cooking and dining in your apartment during your stay.

Expect top quality appliances including a large fridge freezers, an oven, amicrowave, gas hob, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, sink, tea towels, washing up liquid. 

Cupboards and drawers are stocked with utensils, cookware, plates, cups, bowls, glasses, pots and pans. So even if you have guests over, you can entertain without any hassle.

Another great addition in the kitchens here is that they all have a dishwasher and a washer dryer.

Tea and coffee sachets have been provided along with a coffee machine with pods.

Even the bathrooms are on the roomier side. They are all tiled and have the traditional toilet, a bidet, a sink and usually a shower cubicle (although some also have a bathtub). 

The toiletries are from COMO Shambala and the towels are soft are of a premium quality usually placed on the heated towel rails.

Some other handy and helpful items in the apartment included a multi-socket usb adapters, chargable torches, a clothes drying rack, an iron and a ironing board which might come in handy. 

Some of the serviced apartments here have balconies or terraces overlooking the beautiful private gardens which is only accessible to guests.

There is also a large secure underground car park in the basement which can be requested for an additional charge. 

The property is literally across Holland Park and the Design Museum with a Waitrose supermarket on the door, which is very convenient. High Street Kensington and its myriad of retail outlets and trendy eateries are all just a few steps away.
