Serviced Apartment Review - Room2 Southampton Hometel

The Room2 Hometel in Southampton recently celebrated its 1st birthday and invited us along for a fantastic night of indoor golf, pizza, and birthday fun. We stayed the night as well and really got to experience the whole concept of the "Hometel". 

We first saw the Room2 brand of aparthotels in Hammersmith - London, managed by the Lamington Group, who have two more exciting properties launching very soon in Chiswick - London and Manchester.

Home is a feeling

From the minute you step inside, it's all about the feeling of "Home". Sitting right across a lovely patch of green which you overlook as you tuck into your morning breakfast, Room2 Southampton welcomes you in without any formal reception desk. Instead the entrance has a check-in kiosk on the side flowing through into the breakout areas, pantry section, bar and lounge. 

Our room

We stayed in a Master Room and as we had young kids in tow, we opted for the room without the loft, which I’m sure they would have loved had they been over the ages of 6. 

High ceilings, sleek lighting, a dining table for 4 and a super-sized blue velvet sofa caught my eye the minute I walked in. 

The seaside theme resonates throughout the furnishings and gives a sense of calm, cool and relaxing vibes. 

There’s no shortage of space either. A baby cot and foldaway bed fits in easily with still plenty of room for the kids to spread out. 

Bits and bobs

The touches that I loved the most were:

• Easy to follow recipe book
• The bits and bobs box complete with games and trivia
• The huge bright windows which made the room feel so bright in spite of it being such a dull rainy day
• Cheeky quotes in unexpected places, surprise and delight you
• A dishwasher!

Wake up to a great breakfast

The breakfast in the morning was great too. There was plenty of choice for all ages, and fussy little eaters founds something they liked as well.

It included quite a good selection of hot food like bacon, baked beans, hash browns and sausages with make-it-yourself waffles and boiled eggs, croissants and pastries, juices and fruit.

Bring your car

We drove down from London and were pleased to have the car park on-site with direct access to the entrance area. Perfect for travelling with the kids.
