Live the Hygge way in a serviced apartment

Go Native Hyde Park

While it may not be easy to pronounce, the art of living the Hygge way has been one of this year's major trends and become an obsession for many of us here in the UK and elsewhere in the world.

Some are still trying to describe it and countless books are covering the matter in great detail, but it seems that this Danish lifestyle is really about something very simple - living a happy life and spending quality time with loved ones.

Cosiness, candles, coffee, cycling, community, clocking off work on time and comfortable clothing are some of the things that constantly seem to get associated with the Danes and also probably some of the reasons why this nation made it to number #1 as the world's happiest country (World Happiness Report 2016).

We'd all like to make more time for "Hygge". It is one of the reasons why we book special family vacations, surprise romantic breaks or make it a work-holiday and bring the loved ones along.

After checking out more than 1000 apartments in the city, we'd like to share with you some of the ways in which you could have a more "Hygge" stay when you book a serviced apartment here in London.

6 reasons why we love the new Room2 Aparthotel

We visit serviced apartments around the city of London all the time and every now and then a new property invites us around that does something exciting, something new, something we haven't seen before.

Room2 recently opened its doors on the leafy Hammersmith Grove in West London and on closer inspection, we noticed some really interesting and new customer touchpoints that certainly make it a cool, trendy and a very comfortable place to rest your head when visiting the capital for work or holiday.

Here's what we liked the most...

A good walk for a good cause

Some might consider coming face to face with wild deer whilst blindfolded risky business, but not these brave "Guide Dogs" heros.

Last Sunday morning, 7 young achievers from this year's crop of TTG 30under30  including Gavin Pereira from our team, embarked on an impressive 9 mile trail around Richmond Park to support the Guide Dogs charity for the blind.

How technology is making your stay more memorable

Technology has certainly changed the way we travel. From searching for inspiration for the next holiday, to checking-in for a flight, to navigating google maps when you arrive, or booking a taxi ride on Uber to get to your next business meeting.  Having smartphones and tablets has given us the freedom to plan our own itinerary, flexibility to carry around a booking assistant or read reviews of a place from literally anywhere.

These portable devices have been looked upon by the travel industry as a great way to enrich the local experience of the traveller and are appearing in many different ways across the board. Hotels and serviced apartments are no exception. They have been introducing this portable technology in their service offering from their reception desks to their in-room controls to the outside world of city guides and take-away ordering.

So here are two ways our serviced apartments have looked to technology to make your stay more memorable and convenient...

Checking out the Monarch House Apartments

If you are strolling down the fashionable High Street Kensington, or Kensington High Street as it is officially called, you will almost certainly walk past it without even noticing it. Just like the beautiful century-old catholic church, Our Lady of Victories, that it shares a wall with, this modern serviced apartment block is one of Kensington's finest. Past the unassuming (secure-entry) doors, a little reception area complete with a pretty waterfall welcomes you to the Monarch House Apartments

Our team take a closer look as they stay for a night and experience what makes Monarch House such a popular place to call home in London.

Checking out the Point West Apartments

When we say we check out the apartments, we don't just walk around, we sometimes stay for a night (or two) to see if our guests are getting the good night's sleep they are expecting.

One of our recent "nights-out" were at the Point West Apartments in Kensington. It has been a favourite for many clients over the years, who only pick this block (out of the 1000s listed on our site) when they stay in London for business or holidays.

Making sure that the Point West was still ticking all the right boxes, this time was Jane, Melisa and Mariana from our team.

Here are some of their observations and thoughts:

Our Photo Picks: Architecture in London

Jane, our reservations consultant, recently sent in some stunning photos of London's spectacular variety of architecture. You may or may not recognise the different styles or periods of these buildings but I am sure you will appreciate their contrasting characters. Some are so old, you would hardly believe it, but inside their weathered exteriors lie state-of-the-art residences, offices and event spaces.

Why quality checks are so important to us

These days there is so much choice when it comes to accommodation, especially in a city like London. Even if you are specifically after a serviced apartment, there are countless options, across the many neighbourhoods, all varying in style, size, price and available services. That's why we spend a good majority of our time and resources in selecting and quality checking apartments on our website to ensure we partner with only credible and professional accommodation providers.
