London's Top Waterside Restaurants

When summer arrives, all of London seems to head outdoors to bask in the glorious sunshine and this year has been no different. Whether you are a seasoned Londoner or simply visiting for a short stay, there is no better way to catch some rays than to dine al fresco with beautiful riverside views. We have put together our top waterside restaurants in London which offer stunning vistas as well as great food!

1. Le Pont de la Tour

Boasting 'Parisien chic by the Thames', Le Pont de la Tour is perched right on the edge of the Thames with stunning views of Tower Bridge. Classic French bistro fare infused with British produce is the order of the day here with classic dishes such as Roasted Norfolk Guinea Fowl and Dover Sole Meuniere lining up with Plateau de Fruits de Mer and Roasted Chateaubriand. With starters costing up to £14 and mains up to £38, it veers towards the expensive side but with a view like this, how could you complain!
Address: Le Pont de la Tour, 36D Shad Thames, London, SE1 2YE.
London Apartments Nearby: Cheval Three Quays10 Lovat Lane Apartments.

2. The Serpentine Bar & Kitchen

Located in the heart of Hyde Park and right on the edge of the picturesque Serpentine Lake, this option is great for a family lunch or dinner with plenty to choose from and relatively inexpensive by London standards. Burgers, sandwiches, salads and wood fired pizzas are all on offer here and you can even work off your dinner afterward by taking a pedal boat around the lake!
Address: Serpentine Road, Hyde Park, London, W2 2UH.
London Apartments Nearby: Grand Plaza Apartments, Inverness Terrace Studios.

3. Shrimpy's

Formerly a disused filling station, Shrimpy's offers up posh diner grub with a 'Calexican' (California/Mexican) twist on the banks of the Regent's Canal in King's Cross. Londoners flock to this trendy restaurant to sample everything from Corn Chowder to Ceviche to their (now infamous) Soft-shell Crab Burger. Enjoy views of the canal while chowing down on the tuna tostadas and sipping margaritas with a hint of chilli. Blending starchy modern decor with a vintage twist, this restaurant should definitely be next on your list in London. Prices average around £8 for a starter and £16 for a main course.
Address: Shrimpy’s, King’s Cross Filling Station Goods Way, London N1.
London Apartments Nearby: Swinton Apartments, The Old School Apartments.

4. The Ship Wandsworth

Sitting on the banks of the Thames within arms reach of Wandsworth Bridge, The Ship Wandsworth offers superb riverside views along with excellent food. British and french classics have been given a modern flourish here and the emphasis is on seasonality. One of London's hidden gems, it is a bit off the beaten track from the usual touristy haunts but well worth a visit, in our opinion.
Address: 41 Jew's Row, Wandsworth, London. SW18 1TB.
London Apartments Nearby: Chelsea Bridge Apartments.

5. River Cafe

With the Check-in-London HQ located in Hammersmith, we couldn't have a list of the best waterside restaurants in London without mentioning the iconic River Cafe which is situated less than a mile away. With riverside views and modern Italian cuisine, it is no wonder that it is a very popular choice with both Londoners and visitors to the city. The River Cafe is where some of the top chefs in London (including Jamie Oliver) have cut their teeth and, though very difficult to get a table here and quite expensive, it is perfect for a special occasion or a treat. Pasta dishes or 'Primi' can cost anything from £16-£21 while main courses or 'Secondi' can cost up to £43.
Address: Thames Wharf, Rainville Road, London W6 9HA.
London Apartments Nearby: Hammersmith Grove Apartments, So Sienna Apartments.
