London's Beer Revolution

London is in the midst of an uprising. The capital has seen a surge in craft beer interest as well as a rise in the number of breweries based right in the heart of the city. Luckily, all of this enthusiasm is spilling out into London's bars. Therefore, if you're staying in one of our serviced apartments in London, you'll need to clear a little space in the schedule for a pint or two to see what all of the excitement is about. Whether you're a fully fledged beer aficionado or need a little more help deciphering your IPAs from your porters, get involved by trying out one of our favourite bars for beer in London.

1. The Rake
14 Winchester Walk, London Bridge, SE1 9AG

A little bundle of joy hidden in the midst of the foodie mecca that is Borough market, The Rake boasts a 130-strong range of bottled beers from across the globe plus a constantly changing draught beer range. Whilst, smaller than the average person's front room, the pub is award-winning and beer connoisseurs can marvel at the signatures on the wall from big players in the brewing industry. Also, being so close to London Bridge, it's the ideal place for some adventurous post-sightseeing tipples.

2. Brewdog Shoreditch
51-55 Bethnal Green Road, Shoreditch, E1 6LA

Despite its achingly cool credentials, Shoreditch isn't an area generally visited by many tourists. However, with its buzzing restaurants and trendy bars, you'd be missing a trick if you didn't make the trek to the east. Brewdog's exposed brick and bare concrete interiors perfectly reflects the rock'n'roll, shabby chic vibes of the area. The interestingly titled Dead Pony Club and Cocoa Psycho are just a couple of the brews on offer.

3. Euston Tap
190 Euston Road, Fitzrovia, NW1 2EF

Sitting just outside Kings Cross Station, Euston Tap is the ideal way to begin or end (or both!) a trip to the capital. Offering rare beers not often seen in the UK, Euston tap is a must-visit for beer enthusiasts looking to expand their beery horizons. Serving up light and floral IPAs in the summer months and warmth-inducing chocolatey stouts in the depths of winter, Euston Tap serves up great beers without the pretension that sometimes accompanies them.

4. The Lazy Fox
18 Farm Lane, Fulham, SW5 1PP

The Lazy Fox in Fulham is one beery bar where the bartenders get it easier than most. Whilst the dark wood furnishings and roaring fires might suggest a traditional pub, the unique self-serve beer wall (the first of its kind in the UK!) hosts a rotating call of the best brews hailing from our little island. Get experimenting with the beer wall or opt for a table with your very own beer tap and you won't even have to get up from your seat to get the next round in.

5. Octoberfest Pub
678-680 Fulham Road, Fulham, SW6 5SA

It may not be Munich but with its lederhosen-wearing staff and buzzing communal hall, Octoberfest Pub is the closest you'll get to the annual celebration outside of Germany itself. Offering up a slice of the famous Munich party all year round, the pub sources all of its food and drink from the Oktoberfest suppliers to ensure that you get the most authentic experience. At 80-strong, their range of German beers is the largest in the UK.

Best Street Food in London

London has become quite a foodie paradise in the past few years with street food markets springing up all over the city and ever increasing in popularity. From traditional British fare to trendy Asian offerings, it's a great way to explore just some of the culinary delights that London has to offer during your stay in a London serviced apartment

Here we tell you where to find the best street food in London...

Borough Market

One of London’s oldest food markets, this market has something for everyone. Located right beside London Bridge Station, it is a food lovers dream with cakes and pastries alongside traditional English pies and Indian street food. One of the highlights of the market is the scallops on the half shell topped with crispy bacon and the freshly shucked oysters from the fishmongers. You can buy your fresh produce here for dinner and then have lunch from one of the variety of food stalls while sipping a chilled glass of chardonnay.

Opening times: Mon-Thurs 10am-5pm, Fri 10am-6pm, Sat 8am-5pm.

How to get there: Get the Jubilee or Northern Line to London Bridge. The market is located right next to London Bridge Station.

Accommodation nearby: Borough Green Apartments or Borough Superior Apartments.

Street Feast

Street Feast is London’s pioneering night market with a variety of traders selling a variety of cuisines from American barbecue to South-east Asian. You will find it all here as well as numerous tasty vegan options and craft beers. The atmosphere is similar to that of a festival so get there early and beat the queues. Located in Dalston Yard during the summer months but currently holding occupancy of Hawker House, a large warehouse in East London decorated with fairy lights and with a huge meat smoker outside for those smoky St. Louis barbecue ribs.

Opening times: Fri & Sat 5pm-12am

Website: www.streetfeastlondon.com

How to get there: See the website for details.

Accommodation nearby: Park Lane City Apartments.

KERB at King’s Cross

Their motto of ‘Making Cities Taste Better’ says it all and the giant green letters spelling KERB adorning the pavement mean that this street food offering is hard to miss. Having recently lost their position at the gherkin (which is being hotly contested as we speak), this pavement sensation is bringing the international street food scene to London’s King’s Cross with everything from Italian-American Sandwiches to Asian Pork Buns to Rib Meat Rolls. The traders here vary from day to day so be sure to check who will be there on their website.

Opening times: Tues-Fri 12-2.30 pm

How to get there: Get the Northern, Victoria, Picadilly, Hammersmith and City, Metropolitan or Circle line to King’s Cross St. Pancras and it’s a 10 minute walk from there

Global Food Kitchen at Camden Lock Market

Among the jewellery, bags and music stalls in Camden Lock Market sits the Global Food Kitchen which provides a huge variety of international cuisines and everything from Mac and Cheese to Ethiopian Curry to Indian street food. Reasonably priced and located in a bustling Camden Town, it is sure to get your tastebuds fired up.

How to get there: Get the Northern line to Camden Town and it’s a 5 minute walk from there.

Accommodation nearby: Camden Street or Camden Town Apartments.
