Of course, if you're staying in one of our holiday apartments in London, you could just relax in the comfort of your living room and tune into BBC1 to watch the fireworks. However, if you want to see the best that London has to offer, you'll want to venture out onto the busy streets. Here's our round-up of the best New Years Eve ideas in London 2013 with a little something for clubbers, first-timers to the city and foodies alike.

FOR FIRST-TIMERS

The London fireworks New Year's Eve are famous around the world but this year they're set to be bigger, better and more impressive than ever before! Crowds of up to 250,000 people start gathering from around 9pm at the bridges and embankments near the London Eye where the fireworks are launched.

Wrap up warm, prepare for a LOT of people and wait for the countdown until Big Ben's famous bongs at midnight are followed by an impressive display of pyrotechnics set to a specially created soundtrack. As the world's first multi-sensory fireworks display, it's going to be the one for the history books with banana confetti and orange-flavoured bubbles floating down over the crowds! With South Bank, Big Ben, St Paul's and the London Eye as a backdrop, you couldn't get a more quintessentially London New Year Eve celebration for any city first-timers.

Take a look at the government website for further information about how to get there and what to expect.
