The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II

Queens Jubilee

It’s not every day that a royal celebrates a Diamond Jubilee, in fact she is the only British Monarch to celebrate a Diamond Jubilee, other than Queen Victoria in 1897. So we are throwing her a party, a nationwide party, to honour Queen Elizabeth II who marks sixty years of her reign on 2nd June 2012.

With the extra Bank Holiday (5 June), Jubilee fever will reach an all time high and attract thousands of visitors to the city of London who will come to witness an outstanding programme of events taking place from Saturday 2nd June to Tuesday 5th June across the city.

Join The Queen and Katherine Jenkins on the Saturday 2nd June as they attend the first official event of the long weekend at the prestigious Investec Derby in Epsom.

Sunday 3rd of June will be main day with a Big Jubilee Lunch party which will take shape in the form of traditional street parties or picnic lunches brimming with brilliantly British union jack hues. http://www.thebiglunch.com/

Then head over to the riverside to watch as the Thames Diamond Jubilee River Pageant unfolds as one of the year’s most exciting events with over 1000 boats assembled from across the UK, the Commonwealth and around the world, carrying 20,000 people down the Thames lead by The Queen in her Royal Barge, the Spirit of Chartwell accompanied by celebratory music. http://www.thamesdiamondjubileepageant.org/

On Monday 4th June don’t miss the special BBC Concert over at Buckingham Palace which will feature top music stars like Elton John, Shirley Bassey, Jessie J, JLS, Tom Jones, Paul McCartney and many more that will be give a spectacular show in honour of The Queens Jubilee.

Finally, the celebrations draw to an end with a service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral on Tuesday 5th June attended by the Queen and members of the royal family and 2,000 invited guests followed by a formal carriage Procession by The Queen.

There are thousands of Britannia memorabilia out there to commemorate this joyous occasion from cups to coins, scarves to scones, medals to Marmite, and posters to pillow. Here are some of the best places to look to look for quirky royal keepsakes.

Selfridges, Fortnum & Mason, Liberty, Heals, V&A Shop, Cath Kidston, John Lewis
