Borough Market at London Bridge

Borough Market is one of those true London gems that are absolutely not worth a miss and one we always recommend to clients that we place in London serviced apartments. Stemming from the south end of London Bridge, the market sits tucked away beneath the rumbling of the passing overground trains from London Bridge station. As one of London's oldest markets dating back to Roman times, its not surprising to see why it is so popular with tourists and locals alike. Fresh produce like fish, meats, vegetables, ciders, cheeses, breads, coffees, cakes and patisseries are sold by the dozen by market veteran stall holders who have been trading here for generations.

You can be sure to find some true English traditions like roasted venison, haggis, pork pies and seville orange marmalade. There is also a variety of international cuisine like Indian rasoi ( sweets ), German pretzels, Calabria salami, Manchego Cheese and Mediterranean meze. The strange and the unusual is also at home here with the unmissable ostrich burgers and Pate de Campagn. A tantalizing mix of sweets and eats that epitomize the spirit and cultural richness of this amazing city.

Borough market is open for business from Thursday to Saturday and will be sure to tempt your tastebuds and make you part with your cash. Carry some extra cash as the lines at the cash machines can be very long. So if you have the luxury of self-catering facilities in your very own short stay London apartment, you may want to consider stocking up on some fresh produce from Borough Market.
